Works are separated into series. Please enjoy.
Currently, I've been working on a series of work that are chibi (mini). Landscapes devoid of color, images that evoke feelings of longing. I've always enjoyed observing life and am greatly influenced by "Ma" (間) , a Japanese word which can be roughly translated as "gap", "space", "pause" or "the space between two structural parts." Chibi drawings allows me to have viewers physically mimic the distance when working on these pieces. To take notice of the pauses where vibrations of life are always present even in the smallest parcels of land.
Sleven, is a fictional character that was created by accident. He first appeared in past works as a speck, a human-like object hidden in the bushes or shadows of my work. I wanted to feel like the world was everything and we (humans) were only a small portion to the natural changes in the world.
As my exploration continued, Sleven developed into a 'meaning' rather than a physical entity for me. Sleven meant the corruption of good things and was then given the name, Lucky Sleven. Lucky, Sleven can be seen in many variations as he continues to grow as his world dies.
A perfection combination of storytelling and suggestive paper art. An exploration into a new medium to emhasize contrast and shape.
